FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Where should I send recital questions? Please send all questions to our main email info@fcdcsmtx.com
-
Is jewelry allowed at recital? For your dancer’s safety, it is always best to leave jewelry at home. The only exception is non-dangly earrings.
-
Should my dancer wear make-up? Although make-up is not required, we do recommend light stage make-up. Those lights can be very bright and wash out your dancer’s features. A little blush, lipstick, and mascara can go a long way! (Company members should be in Company make-up)
-
What should my dancer’s hair look like? We use a studio-wide hair style for ALL classes that way dancers in multiple styles do not have to change their hair at recital. We do a SLICKED back, low ponytail with a part down the middle. If your dancer’s hair is too short for a ponytail, slicked back to the best of your ability is perfect!
-
What do I need to bring to tech rehearsal and recital? Bring all costume pieces, SKIN TONE tights (if needed), shoes (if needed - black tap shoes, tan/skin tone jazz shoes, pink/skin tone ballet shoes, black hip-hop shoes, etc.), hair and make-up fully done upon arrival.
-
Where will my dancer be during the show when he/she is not performing? All dancers will remain in the dancer waiting room throughout the entire show (even after they get done performing.) This allows us to know where everyone is at all times and ensures no one will be missed for our finale! We provide coloring sheets, books, games, etc. to keep dancers entertained while waiting.
-
Can I pick up my dancer from the dancer waiting room as soon as they finish dancing? Dancers will not be allowed to be picked up early from the dancer changing room. They MUST STAY through the bows and finale. This allows us to keep all dancers safe and accounted for.
-
How should I keep my dancer’s costumes organized at recital?: Be sure to label ALL costume pieces and shoes in case they get mixed up with someone elses. Costumes can be kept organized on dress rehearsal/recital day by putting them in a large plastic container or clothes basket.
-
Can I video at tech rehearsal and/or recital? Flash photography not permitted at dress rehearsal or recital. If you are taking any photos, please be respectful of those sitting around and behind you. We have a great videographer that will capture the whole thing beautifully, and you get a copy included in your recital fee!
-
My kid is in both shows on one day. Can they stay in between? Dancers MAY stay between shows under parent supervision. FCDC staff will NOT be responsible for any dancers between show time.
-
Can my dancer still perform if he/she has missed classes? Attendance is VERY important, especially in April and May. Missing 1-2 classes during this time is usually ok, but much more than that can create a negative experience for your dancer and others in the class (trying to remember formations and partner work is hard when someone is gone!) We will pull dancers from a dance if we feel it will be a safety concern for the class.
-
Can my dancer perform with an account balance? ALL balances must be fully paid for a dancer to perform in recital. No exceptions.
-
How can I become a recital-day stage parent? The sign-up form is on this site. We have specific classes with a certain number of stage mom slots available for each one.
